Founded in 1991 and originally named Palmtop, the company focuses on PDA software for the consumer market. In 2001, the company was renamed to TomTom and in the same year developed TomTom Navigator – the first mobile navigation system for automobiles. TomTom has become one of the world’s leading developers of navigation systems and is the European market leader in this field. TomTom also supplies the North and Central American market. The company supplies a total of 30 countries with its products and offers a range of 20 different language versions.
