These are the ten best games of 2021 from the community

Once again, some excellent games have been released in 2021. But according to the Highlander motto "There can only be one", there can only be one game of the year 2021. This time, the Digitec Galaxus Community's choice falls on a game with hot sleds. But in order - from place 10 to 1.

Rank 10: "Resident Evil: Village"

Hard to believe, but "Village" is already the tenth game of the core series of "Resident Evil" - "Resident Evil 0" and "Resident Evil Code: Veronica" included. It continues the story of Ethan Winters. The protagonist of part 7 now lives in Europe with his wife and child. Instead of zombies you have to deal with werewolves this time, which are kind of zombies after all.

9th place: "New World"

When I hear "New World", I mainly think of defective graphic cards. But there is a good Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) behind it - even if it is from Amazon. 😉 As a player:in you explore the fictional continent of Aeternum and complete various quests typical of the genre.

8th place: "Far Cry 6"

"The same old story" has titled colleague Phil. Yes, it's true: The sixth "Far Cry" title also feels like its predecessors. Only the scenery seems to change: From sparsely populated Montana, it's off to the fictional Caribbean island nation of Yara, complete with vibrant city. The community doesn't seem to mind - they vote the game to 8th place.

7th place: "Farming Simulator 22

Did you know that Farming Simulator has its own e-sports league? If so much competition is too much for you, you can also plow the virtual fields alone and offline. In the latest version there are even seasons and crop rotations. So you can take care of your farm for a whole year or even longer. The game stands for deceleration par excellence. This seems to go down well with the community.

6th place: "Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart".

For our game editor Phil, "Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart" is one of the most fulfilling games in recent years. Admittedly: The game looks great and I'm dying to explore the colorful, vibrant world. It's just too bad I don't have a Playstation 5. The Digitec Galaxus community is different: contrary to the comments in the forum, many of you now seem to have a PS 5. Why else would you vote the game on place 6?

5th place: "Halo Infinite

I have to admit: I only played the first "Halo" in 2001, and only for a few hours. The game never appealed to me. Story, gameplay and characters were always too clumsy for me. According to colleague Phil, that hasn't changed with "Halo Infinite" either. Nevertheless the community votes the game on place 5.

Place 4: "It Takes Two

The community obviously likes to play together: "It Takes Two" can only be played in pairs and in splitscreen. The co-op game revolves around a married couple who want to get divorced. The daughter is so sad about this that her tears bring two of her self-made dolls to life with the souls of her parents. Sound weird? It is. Fun as hell, though.

3rd place: "Age of Empires 4".

Fans had to wait 16 years for the sequel. The wait seems to have been worth it: "Age of Empires 4" is praised by the press and gamers alike. The game feels familiar at the same time, but also offers a lot of new things. The community obviously likes it and votes the game onto the podium.

2nd place: "Valheim

Maybe it's because of the pandemic, but survival games seem to be popular. You might even want to prepare yourself virtually for an emergency - i.e. when mankind is in trouble due to a virus or your own stupidity. In "Valheim" you have to fight your way through a world inspired by Norse mythology. And sometimes literally. The community likes that. But it's not quite enough for first place.

1st place: "Forza Horizon 5".

This choice should please our race expert Simon Balissat: The Game of the Year is the open-world racing game "Forza Horizon 5". In the fifth installment of the main series, you explore a huge map in Mexico. But you also take part in multiplayer races or complete the campaign mode. The game is definitely not stingy with content. That's why it's probably your game of the year 2021.
