Galaxus goes City: We move into a new headquarters in Hamburg

Some Galaxus.de employees who have been with us since the start in 2018/2019 are probably finding it difficult to say goodbye to the office in Schützenstrasse. Numerous fond memories are associated with it. However, the now 60 employees at the Hamburg site need space (Germany as a whole: more than 200). Larger meetings or even spontaneous meetings are becoming increasingly difficult in the previous office. This is why Galaxus Deutschland has now signed a lease in the "My Falkenried" complex at Hohenluftchaussee 18-20. 62 workstations on 924 square metres, several meeting rooms, a roof terrace and social rooms should also make work efficient, pleasant and modern in the future.

Accessibility and flexibility

The new office on the top floor is just a one-minute walk from the Hoheluftbrücke underground station (U3). The U3 underground line runs very quickly to all corners of Hamburg, making it easy for as many employees as possible to get to and from work. However, a change was necessary, primarily due to the lack of space: "Unfortunately, Schützenstrasse is not a long-term solution," says Sonja Kunz, Executive Assistant at Galaxus. "Because we want to offer all employees enough space. Not just for their own work, but also for spontaneous meetings, for example. And preferably all on the same floor." Jan Wentrot, Head of Category Management at Galaxus in Hamburg: "We looked at many properties, but no other combined everything we wanted. Now we have the perfect solution for the next few years." The new office also fulfils modern sustainability standards, for example, and therefore also meets the requirements of Galaxus Deutschland and its parent company Digitec Galaxus. The lease has been concluded on a long-term basis.

Galaxus is growing

Galaxus Deutschland grew by 57 per cent to 286 million euros in net sales in 2023, although the overall market actually shrank slightly. "Galaxus will continue to grow significantly in 2024," says Managing Director Michael Stolle. This year, the online retailer announced that it would be opening a German location Neuenburg am Rhein in addition to its logistics centre in Krefeld. The first of two warehouses is already under construction. Galaxus wants to move into Neuenburg from 2025 and hire 1,000 employees there in the medium term. The German headquarters will remain in Hamburg, with the move within Hamburg planned for the end of September 2024.
