WhatsApp: new colours and other design changes
WhatsApp is giving its app new colours and other design changes that differ for Android and iOS.
A total of 35 colour variants were tested by WhatsApp in order to decide on a new shade of green. Overall, darker tones were chosen to be less irritating to the eyes in poor light. For this reason, Dark Mode has also become even darker.

Three filter options now appear above the list of your chats. You can choose whether WhatsApp shows you all chats, only unread chats or only group chats. Minor visual adjustments such as a rounder shape have been made to the icons. Illustrations, for example in the chat backgrounds, should look a little more playful.
Navigation bar for Android, simpler attachments for iOS
According to WhatsApp, the latest update for Android introduces a navigation bar at the bottom. This should allow you to switch more quickly between your chats, status messages, Communities and calls. However, this navigation bar has been visible for some time, even without the app's beta status.

Sending attachments is more convenient on iOS. The usual full-screen menu disappears. Instead, a selection of possible attachments appears at the bottom of the display on the iPhone. Here you can choose between the gallery, the camera, your location, contact details, documents, audio files or surveys.
According to WhatsApp, the corresponding update for Android and iOS is being distributed immediately.
