The new robot hoover from Xiaomi dispenses with expensive luxuries such as a suction station. Its primary purpose is to vacuum well and systematically.

The Chinese manufacturer has announced the new Robot Vacuum S20 for the international market. It is not yet clear exactly when it will be available in our shop. However, it will then replace its predecessor, the S10, which has received very good reviews from the Community.

In terms of price, it should be in a similar range, i.e. around 250 francs. This makes it one of the cheaper devices on the market.

This is also noticeable in the equipment. The S20 only has a mini base station where the robot docks to charge the 3200 mAh battery. Dust and dirt are not automatically vacuumed up there, you have to do this manually. The same applies to the water tank, which you have to fill yourself at the tap.

Despite its low price, the S20 has a mopping function. However, this simply involves dragging a cloth across the floor, which is only useful for small areas in practice. As soon as it gets dirty, you have to wash it, otherwise it just smears the dirt.

The affordable robot navigates like a big one

The highlight, however, is the laser navigation. The robot does not move around randomly, but maps the rooms and can vacuum the floor in a targeted manner. According to the manufacturer, navigation and efficiency have been significantly improved compared to its predecessor.

What else has changed from the S10 to the S20? Xiaomi has significantly increased the suction power: from 4000 to 5000 Pascal. The dust container and water tank are also larger and now measure 400 and 270 millilitres respectively. The S20 has a new design with a dust barrier to prevent dirt from falling back even when the container is full. <p
