Who is Emio - The Smiling Man?
Discover the truth in a dark, multi-layered thriller for Nintendo Switch: Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club. Solve the murder of a young student, where a sinister clue recalls unresolved cases from the past and an urban legend about a killer with a disturbing modus operandi.
"I will give you an eternal smile!"
Middle school student Eisuke Sasaki was found dead in a shocking manner. A paper bag with a painted smiling face had been placed over his head.
This unsettling disguise bears a striking resemblance to a recurring clue in a series of unsolved murders from 18 years ago – as well as to the urban legend of Emio, also known as the Smiling Man, a serial killer who is said to give his victims "an eternal smile."
Does this smiling man actually exist, or is a new criminal continuing his legacy?
As a member of the Utsugi Detective Agency, you have been tasked with investigating the circumstances surrounding Eisuke Sasaki's death. You will examine clues and witness statements that you gather to uncover any connections to the gruesome events of the past.
Test your investigative instinct
Intensive investigation will be required to solve this captivating mystery. Interview the victim's classmates and others involved in the case to collect clues, and visit the crime scenes and places of interest to thoroughly search for possible evidence.
If you find yourself stuck in your investigation and unable to progress, read your notebook and review your findings. Use every available detective trick – no matter how far-fetched it may seem to you – and uncover a potential clue.
