The new Tamron 1:3.5-6.3/18-200mm Di II VC is therefore suitable for a wide variety of shooting purposes - from large group photos to family snapshots to portrait shots, from landscape and wildlife photography to sports and school events. Close-ups are also possible thanks to the shortest shooting distance of less than 50 centimetres. Despite the large focal length range and the integrated VC image stabilizer (not with the Sony connection), the new 18-200mm VC weighs only 400 grams. Even when used with the latest APS-C DSLRs, the lens offers balanced balance and comfortable handling. The VC image stabilizer developed by Tamron reduces motion blur and allows beginners to take sharp pictures in difficult situations. The newly developed autofocus focuses on the subject much faster and works almost silently. The optical construction consists of 16 elements in 14 groups. An LD element (Low Dispersion) minimizes color fringes (chromatic aberrations). The seven aperture slats form an almost circular opening, even when the lens is dimmed by two steps. Light points outside the focus area thus blur into attractive background blur (bokeh effect). Tamron's new travel zoom is splash-proof, providing protection against water splashes and light rain. In addition, a practical zoom lock is integrated, which prevents the lens barrel from extending unintentionally during transport.
