In my opinion, digitec needs to talk to the supplier and change this situation for the benefit of customer satisfaction. digitec should have the appropriate market position to bring about a positive change even with weighty suppliers.

This means that the quantities must already be entered at the time of the pre-order and it must be ensured that the orders that were placed first are also delivered first. This should also be clearly communicated to us customers, because other shops can do this too.
So if a customer wants to order the iPhone one day after the order has been released, he would see that he will not receive it until mid-October and can decide to order from another shop if necessary.

Short and concise answer: 
Digitec does not know how many units they will receive until the day of delivery. 
Unfortunately, there's not much they can do about it, nor can they change anything. Incidentally, this already happens every year with the Apple releases.
