Can now confirm the statement from Sony Europe. The player only plays DVDs with Code 2 and Blu-ray Region B.

the player has a region code on the bottom and will only play BD-ROMs/DVD-VIDEOs that have the same region code or .

This player is sold as "region free* (code 0)
Region Blu-ray: A, B, C DVD: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
So everything should work!
