I also think that it is only used for cleaning the pads. I remember reading somewhere that a little of the cleaning agent should be added to the fresh water tank. That's what I do in any case. I have also mixed Kärcher floor cleaner with it and it works without any problems.

I have already tried to find an official answer to this question. There are discussions in forums that it is only added for cleaning the mop pads. Since, at least in my case, there is no smell of cleaner in the freshly cleaned room and the container only needs to be refilled fairly rarely, I also have the feeling that it is only used for cleaning the mop pads.
