- Reliable operation, beautiful mowing pattern
- Simple, but somewhat time-consuming installation
- Quite expensive at 1800 euros
The new robotic mower Roboticmower A 1 from Dreame (de.dreametech.com, just under 1800 euros) can mow lawns of up to around 2000 square metres and does not require GPS or RTK satellite navigation. Instead, the robot orients itself using LiDAR navigation - the abbreviation stands for Light detection and ranging (German: Optische Abstands- und Geschwindigkeitsmessung)...
- For up to 2,000 square metres
- Supports multiple zones
- Appealing app
- Rain and frost sensor
- Cutting height adjustment in the app
- Large battery with 90 watt hours
- Easy to set up
- Great cutting pattern on the surface
- Slight traction weaknesses
- No recessed grip available
Thanks to the LiDAR sensor, the Dreame is the only robot tested that does not require an external antenna or radio transmitter. It cuts the lawn smartly and quickly, path by path. The A1 is too timid on edges and around obstacles and too brisk when recognising objects.
- reliable operation
- Very good cutting pattern
- comprehensive app
- Very good navigation
- Quiet operation
- cannot mow right up to the edge
- Very easy to set up without boundary cables and antennas
- Systematic mowing
- Deactivatable obstacle detection for edge mowing
- Comprehensive and sophisticated app
- Chic but delicate design
- Anti-theft protection
- Wireless positioning
- Rain and frost sensor
- Quiet
- Sensitive obstacle detection
- Unsatisfactory edge cut
- App control in need of training
The Dreame Roboticmower A1 orients itself using only LIDAR, without a wire or direction finder. It coped surprisingly well with this in the test. However, its obstacle detection is too sensitive for us. The battery life is long, the charging time moderate. Its rain and frost sensors promote lawn care.
