Advent Calendar "Dresden Frauenkirche"

This Advent calendar featuring the Dresden Frauenkirche was the starting point. It was the first Advent calendar with a historical city view published by Brück & Sohn. The famous Canaletto motif of the Dresden Neumarkt served as inspiration. Lovingly painted images were created to hide behind the little windows, such as the plum man and the striezel children by Ludwig Richter.

At that time, no one could have guessed the symbolic power that the Frauenkirche in Dresden would eventually hold. However, the courage of many Dresden citizens, led by Ludwig Güttler, who initiated and carried out the reconstruction of the Dresden Frauenkirche, brought it back to life and transformed it into a symbol of global peace and reconciliation.
