Product details
A very elegant travel coupe designed by Frua, equipped with a V8 engine developed by Glas itself. This beautiful sports coupe, also referred to as the "Glaserati," unfortunately did not become a commercial success, and in 1966, Glas was sold to BMW AG. There, the coupe was produced for some time as the BMW Glas 3000 V8 after some minor revisions to the design and technology. Glas was originally founded as an agricultural machinery factory in 1883 in Pilsting. The Hans Glas GmbH in Dingolfing entered the lucrative two-wheeler market in the early 1950s with the production of the Goggo scooter. In 1955, the Goggomobil was introduced with great success, a small car priced at 3,000 DM that could accommodate a family of four. Over the following years, Glas increasingly established itself as a serious automobile manufacturer. The Glas 2600 V8 was presented at the IAA in 1965.
