7 unusual Advent wreath ideas
These seven ideas for abstract Advent wreaths are just right if you want to take your Christmas decorations off the traditional track.
While looking for inspiration for what my Advent wreath could look like this year, I came across so many beautiful examples that I have to share them with you. They look miles away from the classic standard wreaths with fir branches and red candles that you might have in mind right now and can be easily recreated with a little imagination.
1. bring in the industrial look
The House Doctor brand creates an Advent wreath by combining individual branches with four white stick candles and a simple bowl. The latter is made of pulverised stone and resin and creates an exciting contrast, as it radiates an industrial flair instead of Christmas magic. Nevertheless, the arrangement looks warm as soon as the candles are lit. You can easily adjust the degree of Christmassiness with the type and quantity of decorations.

2. surround candles
Normally, a large ring-shaped wreath frames four pillar candles. For a change, House Doctor suggests tying a ring around each individual candle. Your model was made by hand. All you need to copy this idea is a little skill, four suitable candlesticks and napkin rings that you attach with wire. You can also buy the leaf rings or make them yourself with beads.

3. garlands instead of fir branches
This variation may take some getting used to, but it is certainly imaginative: instead of real fir greenery, a handmade garland makes the centrepiece shine. It is made up of silver metal leaves, white beads and wire. However, there are also more colourful garlands, perhaps even green ones, which you can wrap around a bowl.

4. candles with a twist
If you already have a natural or artificial Advent wreath and simply want to give it a personalised touch, you can take inspiration from this idea. The candles play the leading role here and behave as such: they twist and turn to draw attention to themselves. With success - the spiral-shaped candles are more eye-catching than smooth stick candles. Here you can also read how to make them yourself.

5. change of perspective
An Advent wreath usually ends up on the table or on a shelf. Creative minds, however, hang it up. This makes it stand out even more and you can decorate it with Christmas decorations.

6. a calendar candle
Candles with a calendar printed on them can be a nice alternative to Advent wreaths. They are minimalist and give you a reason to light them every day. Some are colourful, have a graphic pattern or feature attractive numbers. They look more Christmassy if you arrange some greenery around them.

7. a wreath made entirely of wax
The Ferm Living brand proposes a minimalist wax Advent wreath. It is a candle and holder in one and has four wicks. Its shape is reminiscent of stalagmites - rock formations that pile up from the floor of a cave. You can add Christmas decorations to it as you wish or leave it as a soloist.
