Indian software engineer breaks punching marathon world record on punching bag

The 42-year-old Sidhu Kshetri has shown impressive physical and mental stamina, breaking the record for the longest marathon of punching a punching bag.
Sidhu Kshetri punched a punching bag for 55 hours and 15 minutes to beat the previous record by five minutes. This was recently reported by Guinness World Records. The Indian is a software engineer by profession, but has been practising martial arts for 25 years. He has represented India in numerous taekwondo championships.
According to his own statements, Kshetri spent six months preparing for the world record. He trained for almost eight hours a day. One four-hour training session in the morning from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. and another four-hour session in the evening.
Demanding rules challenge body and mind
The rules for such a world record attempt are demanding. The challenger must perform a stroke at least every two seconds during the entire attempt. In addition, the arm must return to the starting position after each stroke. After every hour of continuous activity, the challenger is entitled to a five-minute rest period. This can also be accumulated if it is not taken immediately. Only during these breaks could Kshetri go to the toilet, eat something or sleep, for example.
"The pain started after about 20 hours," reported Kshetri after his successful world record attempt. His secret recipe: "I thought that if I stayed emotionally strong, I could endure the pain."
Experienced world record holder
Kshetri is not entirely inexperienced as a world record holder. Back in 2011, he set a world record for the most martial arts kicks in one minute with one leg (168) and in 2013 for the most martial arts kicks in three minutes with one leg (620). Both records have since been broken by Pakistan's Ahmad Amin Bodla. But Kshetri is confident that he can reclaim the records. We'll see if he succeeds.
Go for the bag
You don't have to attempt a world record straight away. But boxing training can be a good sporting supplement for you. It's also said to be a good way to relieve stress and really let off steam.
What crazy world record could you imagine breaking or setting from scratch? Let me know in the comments.
