TCS and ADAC give their blessing to these child seats

The current child seat test by TCS and ADAC is full of recommendable to highly recommendable models. At the same time, the experts point out that a good child seat is only half the battle when it comes to safety. Ultimately, you are the deciding factor.

It starts with the infant car seat, then moves on to the toddler seat and finally to the seat for older children. If you have a child and a car, you can't avoid the topic of child seats. They are available in a wide variety of sizes and designs, and new models are constantly being added. The selection on the market is correspondingly large, and you can find around 1000 child seats on our website alone.

The fly in the ointment

In order not to lose track of this range, TCS and ADAC regularly test new child car seats for their safety, handling, ergonomics and harmful substances.

The latter is the reason why child car seats fall through the cracks.

Only one out of 17 child car seats failed the current test because of the latter: The cover fabric of the model from Graco contains too much formaldehyde. The organic chemical compound is suspected of causing cancer in humans.

"Recommended" to "highly recommended"

The other child seats pass the test and receive a recommendation from TCS and ADAC. According to TCS, 12 of the 16 models are even "highly recommended", including the seats from Doona, Britax Römer, Nuna and Maxi-Cosi.

Another Maxi-Cosi model receives the "recommended" rating, as do three other child car seats, such as the one from Joie.

The human factor

The experts also emphasise in the test that a child seat only protects and benefits if it is used correctly. And this is precisely where things seem to be lacking in Switzerland. A survey carried out by the Swiss Council for Accident Prevention in collaboration with the TCS has shown that the child car seat in this country is used incorrectly for every second child.

Always make sure that the seat is adjusted to the size and weight of your child. Follow the operating instructions for the seat and the car when installing it. And take your child's winter jacket off before buckling them in. This is because the belt must be as close to the body as possible, as the TCS emphasises.

I know even less, but I learn something new every day. What I am good at is dealing with words, spoken and written. And I get to prove that here.
