The market launch of the Apple Vision Pro is approaching in the USA. However, the first users of the Apple glasses will have to do without some popular apps.

The Apple Vision Pro is now available for pre-order in the USA. The first devices will then be delivered on 2 February.

However, the first buyers will have to do without some popular apps. Both Netflix and YouTube have confirmed to the tech portal "The Verge" that they are not planning a special app for the Apple Glasses.

Even iPad and iPhone app will be blocked

More: They are also blocking the iPhone and iPad apps for the Vision Pro. This is possible because every developer can choose whether their apps can also be launched on the glasses. At the start, there is still one way to access YouTube and Netflix, namely via the Safari browser.

It is still completely unclear how many developers will have special apps ready for the Vision Pro in February. Spotify, for example, is not planning anything. An insider even revealed to the financial portal Bloomberg that the existing apps will also be blocked in this case.

None of the top apps specifically for the Vision Pro

What the tech portal Macstories found out is also sobering. Of the 46 most popular apps in the USA, not a single one will be available specifically for the Vision Pro at market launch. Nevertheless, you will be able to use some of them, such as Tinder, Uber, Temu, Telegram or Reddit, via the iPhone or iPad app.

For many others, the developers have already actively blocked the apps for use on the glasses - although they can of course change this at any time. These include Instagram, WhatsApp, TikTok and all Google applications.

At least Apple has already announced some popular applications. Disney Plus offers 3D films and Amazon Prime Video can also be used. Or the game Fruit Ninja.

No success without apps

Apple still has a lot to do when it comes to third-party apps. Because it is clear that the success of the expensive glasses depends on the software. Without the familiar apps, but also applications specially designed for the Vision Pro, the enthusiasm for the technology will only last for a short time.

At least: as all iPad and iPhone apps can also be accessed on the glasses, developers can quickly jump on the bandwagon and activate their apps. What's more, some may wait a little longer and then release an app specially tailored to the Vision Pro, instead of releasing the iPhone or iPad version, which may only work mediocre on the new device.

Gadgets are my passion - whether you need them for the home office, for the household, for sport and pleasure or for the smart home. Or, of course, for the big hobby next to the family, namely fishing.
