The camera was included in the test for comparison. Takes similarly good underwater photos as a smartphone in a diving case. However, it does not quite come close to the camera performance of premium smartphones. The camera's good handling and its optical zoom lens, which provides more resolution for telephoto shots in case of doubt, speak in its favour...
- Extremely robust housing
- GPS built-in
- Small and light
- Significant loss of sharpness in low light
- no built-in viewfinder
The Tough TG-7 is perfect for photographers who are looking for a small but extremely robust camera - for holidays on the ski slopes and by the pool or for documentation on the construction site. However, they have to make compromises in terms of features and image quality. In dim light, the image sharpness decreases significantly. The TG-7 also lacks a viewfinder and the display is fixed.

The concept of the OM System Tough TG-7 makes the camera special: it is perfect for photographers who are looking for a small but extremely robust camera - for holidays on the ski slopes and by the pool or for documentation on the construction site. On the other hand, they have to make slight compromises in terms of image quality, especially in dim light where the sharpness of the image decreases significantly...
- High image quality for photo and video
- good equipment
- Fast autofocus
- Slight weaknesses when zooming
- Image stabilisation somewhat low
All-round tough: The OM System Tough TG-7 lives up to its name and is equipped for all adversities. The image quality is also impressive, preferably outdoors with sufficient light.
Compact cameras and smartphones fulfil different tasks in everyday life and are technically very different from one another. But both have photography in their DNA. For Pixel, the topic is central, for the OM TG-7 it is even the core competence. The OM stands for classic photographic technology, where the quality of the hardware - primarily the sensor and the optics - tends to be more important for...
- Even without an additional protective cover, the robust TG-7 can cope with a lot
- The diving depth it can reach is not only recommended for snorkelling trips on the beach, but should be more than enough for many recreational divers
- The small sensor format limits the image quality not only through a relatively low resolution, but also through increased susceptibility to noise
- The camera is somewhat difficult to operate when wearing gloves
The OM System Tough TG-7 is an excellent addition for unusual photographic tasks and therefore an ideal second camera when the going gets tough. Thanks to its extensive focus on automatic settings, it is easy to operate. It has to be, because the controls are difficult to operate under water or in the snow...
