The differences in the synthetic measurements are large, but they blur in the practical benchmarks. A fast and expensive SSD is only worthwhile if you also use it, for a simple office PC a cheap SSD with PCIe 3.0 is sufficient.
However, if you only look at the performance and only consider the SSDs from this test, you can hardly get past the Acer Predator; the Adata Legend 840 and the HP FX900 follow...

Rarely do we find it difficult to put a model in one of the existing drawers as we do with the new Samsung SSD 980. An SSD without DRAM is not only a novelty for Samsung, but one with otherwise good performance and features is also new to the SSD market. Until now it was pretty easy, as previous models without DRAM were also mediocre at best in terms of performance, such as the WD Blue SN550...
