Cat 6A cables are designed for operating frequencies of up to 500 MHz. They are used for signal transmission at high data rates (10 Gbps). Due to the high signal frequencies, special care must be taken during installation and assembly, particularly at the connection points of the conductors. The individual pairs of wires in Cat 6A cables are twisted at different tightness levels, which further reduces susceptibility to interference compared to Cat 5e. Applications for Cat 6A cables include voice and data transmission as well as multimedia and ATM networks.
