This is done by the now legendary SPD technology. Compared to its predecessors, the footprint of the XT PD-M8100 is 2.8 mm wider and the platform is 0.5 mm lower.
This noticeably increases the efficiency of the pedals and they are particularly suitable for use in MTB Cross Country or Cross Country Race. As usual from Shimano, the pedals come with the corresponding SM-SH51 Cleats. The pedal body is made of anodised aluminium and the pedal axle of CrMo. The compact bearing is naturally sealed.
