5 Steam sterilisers in the test

A large part of all consumers who, in addition to their work and the one or other moment with family and friends, also have to devote themselves to the weal and woe of a baby, missed one thing above all: time. After all, not all workers have the option to realise their work projects in the home office, where they can take care of the baby's wishes every now and then. Speaking of wishes: The most noble wish of many babies is food - whether in the form of milk or porridge in all imaginable variations. However, because babies do not yet have a fully effective immune system and many of the microbes (bacteria, fungi, etc.) swirling around the house can therefore prove to be a considerable risk,1 babies should only be served all the different foods in completely sterile eating and drinking containers. The same is true for dummies, where many microbes, such as staphylococci, can multiply rapidly.2 But how can you ensure that all microbes disappear completely? Although boiling water can be very effective,3 sterilisation can be much quicker, simpler and safer with a modern steriliser! These boil the water in them within minutes, so that it can finally evaporate and disperse in the bonnet that closes them off at the top. All the microbes that were previously still on the things lingering in the sterilisers can thus be eliminated. We have now spent many weeks determining the quality of various sterilisers from the manufacturers Babymoov, Beurer, Philips Avent and reer (€min-€max: €36.47-99.45) and during this time we have ascertained at what speed these models can carry out sterilisation, how safe they are to use and what the situation is with regard to sound emission and power consumption.
