Information on (waste) electric and electronic equipment
The following information is intended for private households that use electrical and/or electronic equipment. Please follow these important instructions in the interest of environmentally friendly disposal of waste equipment and your own safety.
Information on disposing of (waste) electrical appliances and the meaning of the symbol in annex 3 of the ElektroG (Germany’s Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act):
Waste appliances need to be handled separately from unsorted domestic waste. Waste electrical and electronic equipment must therefore not be disposed of as unsorted domestic waste and, in particular, should not be disposed of with household waste. Waste appliances must be collected separately and disposed of via local collection and return systems, for example.
Before disposing of an appliance, any waste batteries and waste accumulator batteries that are not built into the appliance permanently must be removed. The latter does not apply if the appliance is separated from other waste equipment by the public waste management authorities as part of the opting process in accordance with § 14 (5) sentences 2 and 3 of the ElektroG for the purpose of preparing it for reuse.
The symbol described in annex 3 of the ElektroG allows identifying waste appliances that must be collected separately from unsorted domestic waste once they are not in use anymore. The symbol indicating separate collection of electrical and electronic equipment consists of a crossed-out wheeled bin, as shown below:

Information on returning waste equipment:
If you have purchased an electrical or electronic appliance from us, you can return an old appliance of the same type (see overview below) to us. For example, if you have purchased a new vacuum cleaner on galaxus.de, you can send us your old one.
On top of this, any waste appliances that are smaller than 25 cm can be returned to us whether you made a purchase on galaxus.de or not.
In both cases, the waste appliance does not have to be one that you purchased from us.
If you would like to return a waste appliance to us or if you have any questions, please contact us via our Galaxus Assistant. We will provide you with a shipping label that allows you to send your waste appliance to us. We make sure that it is disposed of correctly.
Owners of waste equipment from private households can also return waste appliances to collection points of public waste disposal authorities or to collection points of manufacturers or distributors that are provided in accordance with the ElektroG. Here is an online directory of all collection and take-back points.
